2-3 June            Baseball Field Opening and Tournament

Eric V. Gaudiosi, Political and Economic Advisor to US Ambassador to Hungary, April H. Foley, will throw out the first baseball to help dedicate the opening of Hungary's newest baseball field located in Debrecen's Ipari Park on June 2-3, 2007.

Hosting the event is the Debrecen Tiger Kids team, whose interest in the game has sparked the building of this field and will take them this summer to Lancaster, Ohio for an American style baseball training camp. The tournament includes teams representing the cities of Debrecen, Szentendre, Érd, Budapest, and Jászberény.

Mr. Gaudiosi will be joined by Robert Irving, President of Baseball Federation in Hungary.

Both are supporting the promotion of baseball in Hungary and will help launch the two-day tournament held June 2-3 starting at 1000 on Saturday. Irving heads the adult Baseball Federation here in Hungary.

Admission is free and the public is invited to view the game and is encouraged to participate in the "learn how to play baseball" sessions. All ages are welcome. The field is located at Debrecen Ipari Park- Határ utca 10 (Entrance from Globiz International’s).

13-15 June               Services at the Street of Youth Program

During the one-week event, the American Corner's services were available at the the Froggy Pond in the Great Forests to the public.

July 2007

9-20 July             Tigerkids English Course

The two week course specially designed for the Tigerkids helped the players refresh their English before they took off to the Baseball Camp in Lancaster, Ohio. Four English teachers helped the kids in playeful ways to pracice the most useful and practical English expressions that they may need dring their stay in the U.S.
 

18 July                 Independence Day Picnic


 

What do Americans do on the Fourth of July? They go for a picnic!

This is what we are going to do too! Get a blanket, sandwiches, something to drink and let's go out to the Great Forest! We'll gather opposite to the DOTE car entrance on Pallagi street.

Not only eating and chatting are in the program, but also playing games (independence day activity, quiz, etc.) and painting American flags!!! So if you feel like having some fun outdoors with English speaking people, join us around 6 pm!
