10 December DEBUT ARTC – Opening ceremony of Helga Birki’s exhibition

Helga Birki, a representative of the youngest artist generation is at the beginning of her career. Her impressions of the world are sometimes abstract, at other times realistic. On this exhibition imprints of faces will be put on display resculptured by the artist. By setting the face out of the body she is trying to emphasize the force of expression and the potentials of sensation.
The exhibition can be viewed between 10-24 December, 2006.

In the American Corner Debrecen you have 5 days to visit and to look at pieces of Hungarian arts connected to a historical timeline. The chronologically shown events are compared to American happenings making it easier to imagine the co-existence of the two cultures. See hand-made tapestry and ceramics and read the greatest Hungarian poems in English!

14 February Ambassador Foley on Study Opportunities in the U.S.
Ambassador Foley and professor Zoltán Abádi-Nagy visit the American Corner Debrecen to meet local high school students and talk to them about studying in the United States.
Students from every school are welcome and encouraged to ask questions.

A representative of the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Budapest will visit the American Corner in Debrecen, located at 4025 Debrecen, Piac u. 77, on February 14, 2007 to provide certain services for American citizens and to answer questions related to Consular matters.

• Add pages to your passport**
• Order tax forms
• Ask questions about immigration
and citizenship issues

• Notarize documents $30.00 for first signature, $20.00 for additional signatures

A park bench, two strangers and a mysterious trip to the zoo.
American playwright Edward Albee's play put on stage by young artists. The performance won the Best Production, Best Actor and the British Council Special Award in 2003 at the Annual English Drama Festival in Debrecen.
A good English is neccessary to understand the performance!

For a week we set up a gallery of the presidents of the United States, make interactive games available in connection with these noble statesmen and we also show a one-hour documentary movie every day from 4pm to 5pm.
